Welcome to the municipality of Aabenraa
Aabenraa Kommune, the municipality of Aabenraa, is beautifully located with hilly landscapes to the east and open spaces to the west. Three fjords and large forest areas provide ideal opportunities for leasure activities on land as well as at sea.

Aabenraa Kommune is located at the gate to Europe. Bordering on Germany, Aabenraa Kommune is the municipality which covers the largest part of the Danish frontier.

Main European artery E45 runs through the entire Aabenraa Kommune. Combined with an efficient port, the north- and southbound railway, and a big international centre of transportation, Aabenraa Kommune offers an optimal infrastructure with a strong axis for all kinds of transportation and trade.

In Aabenraa Kommune, we warmly welcome new citizens. Families are met with a welcome package, covering different cultural, leisure, and shopping offers. A bus ride through the municipality, guided by the mayor, provides newcomers with the possibility of getting acquainted as well as the opportunity to receive information about the area.

Covering 942 square kilometres with a population of approximately 60,000 people, Aabenraa Kommune is one of the largest municipalities in Denmark.
